Aquilifer wordmark and standard-bearer mark

Borne, not worn

Hand-cast silver. Asymmetric by hand, matte to satin, tool marks left where they fell.

Summer / 26

The standard-bearer

The aquilifer carried the thing that could not be dropped. We make objects with the same demand — cast by hand, finished only far enough to be held.

No mirror polish. No faceted stone. Weight you feel before you see.

Cast

Each form begins in wax and keeps the pressure of the hand.

02

Marked

Tool traces remain visible. The surface is evidence, not decoration.

03

Borne

Weight, balance and contact decide the piece before polish does.

The making — three passes

01 / 03

Atelier pass I — WaxPass I

I

Wax

Every form starts as a wax pressed by thumb. The irregularity is the drawing; nothing is modelled twice.

Atelier pass II — BurnPass II

II

Burn

The wax is lost in plaster and fire. What returns from the flask is closer to a find than a product.

Atelier pass III — HandPass III

III

Hand

Files, not machines. The surface is taken to satin and stopped there, while the tool traces are still legible.
